DESCRIPTION:\n	Followed by a conversation with Michael Schultz \n\n\n	Dir.
Michael Schultz. 1975\, 107 min. 35mm. With Glynn Turman\, Lawrence Hilton
-Jacobs. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary\, Michael Schultz’s feature film
debut Cooley High has been called “the Black American Graffiti\,” but the
only similarities are a soundtrack of oldies (lovers of Motown will rejoi
ce) and a sense of nostalgia. Screenwriter Eric Monte (co-creator of Good
Times) drew from his own 1960s Chicago experiences to tell the tale of two
high-school buddies getting in and out of trouble and looking for girls.
The film’s meandering comic quality makes its tragedy even more heartbreak
ing. \n\n\n	Tickets: $12 ($9 for senior citizens and students / free for m
embers at the Film Lover level and above). Order tickets online. (Members
may contact members@movingimage.us with any questions regarding online res

(see gallery hours). View the Museum’s ticketing policy here. For more inf
ormation on membership and to join online\, visit our membership page.\n
