 et and Lexington Avenue in Harlem\, Field Niggas is a community portrait c
 ome vibrantly and indelibly to life. With a deli\, a dollar store\, a pizz
 eria\, and a Pathmark supermarket as urban backdrops\, photographer and fi
 lmmaker Khalik Allah converses with street denizens as he captures them in
  slow motion—sound and picture tantalizingly dance around each other\, but
  rarely synch up. Over 60 enrapturing minutes\, Allah whips up a kind of b
 lues trance\, with faces\, like songs\, fading in and out of view\, and ga
 thering into a powerful chorus that is intimate\, heartfelt\, and strange.
