 on. As recounted in Shola Lynch’s fascinating documentary\, even though th
 e political establishment shunned Chisholm\, she persisted\, seeing the pr
 esidential race as an opportunity to draw people to politics that traditio
 nally did not participate. In her words\, “I ran for the presidency\, desp
 ite hopeless odds\, to demonstrate sheer will and refusal to accept the st
