DESCRIPTION:\n	With Sam Pollard in person \n\n\n	Dir. Sam Pollard. 2016. 80
mins. Narrated by Common. In June of 1964 hundreds of college students\,
eager to join the civil rights movement\, traveled to Mississippi\, starti
ng what would be known as Freedom Summer. That same month\, two groups of
young men—made up of musicians\, college students and record collectors—al
so traveled to Mississippi. Though neither group was aware of the other\,
each had come on the same errand: to find the blues singers Son House and
Skip Jame and coax them out of retirement. Finally\, on June 21\, 1964\, t
hese distinct activist and musicology campaigns collided in memorable and
tragic fashion. Narrated by Common\, and featuring the music of Gary Clark
Jr.\, acclaimed filmmaker Sam Pollard's Two Trains Runnin' revisits a mom
ent when America's cultural and political institutions were dramatically t
ransformed\, pays tribute to a pioneering generation of musicians\, and cu
ts to the heart of our present moment\, offering a crucial vantage from wh
ich to view the evolving dynamics of race in America. The screening will b
e followed by a conversation with Sam Pollard\, moderated by Warrington Hu
dlin.\n	\n	\n	Tickets: $15 (Free for members at the Film Lover and MoMI Ki
