DESCRIPTION:\n	Dir. Jean-Luc Godard. 1988–1998\, 266 mins. plus intermissio
 n. Digital projection. His magnum opus as a critic-turned-filmmaker\, Jean
 -Luc Godard’s monumental four-and-a-half-hour video is a dense\, kaleidosc
opic meditation on nothing less than the intertwining histories of the twe
ntieth&nbsp\;century and cinema. Ranking it with the great artistic accomp
lishments of the century\, Time magazine critic Richard Corliss asked “Is
Godard Picasso\, or Joyce? Is Histoire(s) his Guernica or Finnegans Wake?
It’s certainly up there with the most ambitious\, audacious achievements o
f the great modernists. The breadth and depth of the enterprise is amazing
\; no one had dreamed this mountain before\, let alone scaled it.” \n	\n
\n	Please note: Histoire(s) du cinema will be presented in digital project
ion\, a format that has been the standard for screening this work. As an a
dded bonus\, the Museum will screen a 35mm print of Moments choisis des hi
 stoire(s) du cinéma\, a rarely shown shorter version of Godard's project\,
on Sunday\, January 28\, at 12:00 p.m. with an introduction by Richard Su
 chenski.&nbsp\; &nbsp\; \n	\n	\n	Tickets: $15 (Free for members at the Fil
