DESCRIPTION:IndieCade East is the Museum’s annual celebration of independen
 t games and the people who make and play them. The exciting weekend featur
 es dozens of new and unreleased games\, a packed schedule of talks\, panel
 s\, and workshops by designers\, developers\, players\, organizers\, think
 ers\, activists\, historians\, critics\, and provocateurs. IndieCade is th
 e country’s premier Festival for independent video games\, dedicated to th
 e discovery\, development\, and recognition of independent designers and d

 of a life\, through the physical computing platform Blinks\, created by Mo

 with Emblematic Group \n			\n			Explore the principles and creative ideas 
 behind journalism and documentation in the world of 360 video and VR. The 
 workshop features a conversation between James Pallot of the Emblematic Gr
 oup and Maureen Towey\, formerly of The New York Times Magazine Daily 360 
 about 360 video and VR as a documenting tool\, with a presentation of the 
 cutting edge technology with Sam Quick\, a technical artist at Daily 360.

 and into the space of the real world. IndieCade co-founder Celia Pearce ex
 plores this brand new world of play in a talk for designers and players al

 tem \n			\n			How do you build a location-based game for 150 concurrent pl
 ayers and still give them agency? Club Drosselmeyer is an interactive nutc
 racker that takes place in a 1940s nightclub\, complete with an open dance
  floor\, a full band\, an original swing score\, magic\, dance performance
 s\, acrobats\, multiple storylines\, actors\, player characters\, and lots
  of puzzles. Join Kellian Adams Pletcher to talk about Club Drosselmeyer 1
 940\, what worked and did not work\, how it was structured\, and how this 
 year’s game was built based on what was learned from last year’s game\, Cl

  Pratt will give his lecture on action games from the school’s hallmark Ga
 mes 101 course. This foundational course for incoming students at the NYU 
 Game Center. focuses on game literacy—a shared understanding of games as c
 omplex cultural and aesthetic objects.&nbsp\; \n		\n		\n			Getting Over It
  with Bennett Foddy with Bennett Foddy \n			\n			  Help a man stuck in a p
 ot get over a large trash mountain using only a hammer. This is your chanc
 e to play Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy while designer Bennett Foddy

 nce Engagement: What Immersive Theater Can Teach Game Devs \n			\n			This 
 workshop features Ed Sylvanus Iskander\, one of New York's leading immersi
 ve theater directors in conversation with Robert Nashak\, COO of the virtu
 al reality game developer Survios. Iskander will discuss his philosophy an
 d practice of immersive theater\, which has fascinating parallels and less
 ons for game developers. Many of his productions such as Golden Lotus and 
 Caught present a series of sequential activities in analogy with game leve
 ls where audience members are invited to continue engaging with the experi
 ence on their own terms. His experiments illuminate new paradigms for crea
 ting social agency to drive audience engagement and retention. \n			\n			
 \n			7:00 PM - 10:30 PM \n			\n			Night Games \n			\n			This unique annual
  event from the IndieCade Festival will transform the Museum into the ulti
 mate live playground\, with a selection of games for tabletop and physical
  play\, and featuring the work of many IndieCade alumni. Organized by Pete
  Vigeant of ESI designs\, Night Games will highlight the breadth and wonde
 r that the evolution of games has brought to communal play. \n		\n		\n	\n
