DESCRIPTION:\n	Dir. Tom Kalin. 1992\, 93 mins. 35mm. With Daniel Schlachet\
, Craig Chester\, Ron Vawter. Co-written by Kalin and Hilton Als. A key fi
lm of the 1990s “New Queer Cinema\,” Swoon dramatizes the Leopold and Loeb
murder case\, which was also the basis for Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope and Ri
chard Fleischer’s Compulsion. Swoon deals directly with the protagonists’
homosexuality and their Jewishness\, taboo topics in the earlier films. Wi
th a shoestring budget\, DePrez and Kalin realize the period drama in beau
tiful black-and-white\, using spare but expressive sets that allow for the
incorporation of fantasy scenes. \n	\n	Preceded by Geoffrey Beene 30&nbsp
