DESCRIPTION:\n	Dir. Orson Welles. 2018\, 122 mins. New 35mm print. With Joh
 n Huston\, Oja Kodar\, Peter Bogdanovich\, Susan Strasberg\, Norman Foster
\, Robert Random. After years of exile in Europe\, a maverick director nam
ed Jake Hannaford (John Huston) returns to Hollywood to finish his comebac
k movie\, “The Other Side of the Wind.” As the director struggles to compl
ete his project\, he contemplates his legacy. Among the holy grails of Hol
lywood legend\, The Other Side of the Wind was left unfinished at the time
of Orson Welles’s death in 1985\, but was finally completed thanks to a t
eam led by director Peter Bogdanovich (who plays a leading role in the fil
m)\, the producers Frank Marshall and Filip Jan Rymsza\, and the editor Bo
b Murawski. The result is a film that’s both undeniably Wellesian and also
uniquely\, gloriously\, irreconcilably strange and provocative. The Other
Side of the Wind is like a depth-charge set several decades in the past t
hat’s finally exploded into 2018—ready or not\, here it is. And thankfully
it’s finally here to stay.\n\n\n	“Welles buffs will long argue over their
choices\, but the film is a major addition to the director’s canon\, offe
ring a sometimes harrowingly personal vision. Hannaford is hardly a self-p
ortrait\, but his predicament is not unlike Welles’s own: he is a legend w
hose past overshadows his present.” —Alex Ross\, The New Yorker \n\n\n	Tic
