 the actual world. This idea lies at the heart of Antoni Collot’s beguiling
  and beautifully mystifying film about a young man who visits the partner 
 of his father\, the recently deceased philosopher Paul Eichmann. The partn
 er\, Brune\, lives with their three-year-old daughter\, Madeleine. The dau
 ghter’s Proustian name is a key to the film’s time-traveling style\, as th
 e story takes a series of inexplicable turns\, including the reappearance 
 the the late philosopher. Exquisitely made\, the film is as emotionally en
