DESCRIPTION:With introduction by guest curator Courtney Stephens\n\n\nCry W
hen It Happens (Dir. Laida Lertxundi. 2010\, 14 mins. 16mm.) \n\nThe Savag
 e Eye (Dirs. Ben Maddow\, Sidney Meyers\, Joseph Strick. 1960\, 88 mins. 3
5mm.) \n\nTwo films about the geographies of loss. One\, an experimental w
ork that depicts Los Angeles as a series of habitats: motel rooms\, screen
s\, and open vistas\, easily traversable from within the female psyche. Th
e second\, an idiosyncratic city symphony narrated as a dialogue between a
female divorcee and her (male) conscience\, as imagined by Hollywood vete
rans (including Haskell Wexler and Ben Maddow) working on weekends. The Sa
vage Eye\, which is rarely screened\, follows our fictional protagonist (p
ortrayed by actress Barbara Bailey) between buses\, beauty parlors\, and t
he aftermath of real auto accidents\, treating the city as a set of surfac
es upon which life’s disappointments may be easily projected and reflected
